Description

CELTIC, Carpathian region. early 3rd Century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 13.57 g, 12 h), Zweigreiter type, imitating Philip II of Macedon, struck in the Banat region. Celticized laureate head of Zeus right. Rev. Horseman riding to right; below, branch. CCCBM I S24. Dembski 1029-1030. Flesche 662. Göbl 42-44. Kostial 378. Sharp and attractive. Obverse slightly off center , otherwise, about extremely fine.
From the collection of W.F. Stoecklin, Amriswil, Switzerland, acquired from Münzen & Medaillen AG and ex Kricheldorf, October 1955.
