LUCANIA. Thourioi . Circa 443-400 BC. Stater (Silver, 22 mm, 7.68 g, 8 h), traditonally thought to have been engraved by Phrygillos (the name means 'finch' and the bird on the reverse is seen as his signature). Head of Athena to right, wearing Attic helmet adorned with an olive branch. Rev. ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ Bull walking to left; below on ground line, finch to left; in exergue, fish to left. HN III 1772. SNG ANS 949. Nicely toned and centered. Very fine.
