Description

KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 18mm, 4.28 g 12), Lampsakos, c. 310-301. Head of Herakles in lion skin headdress to right. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on backless throne, holding eagle in his right hand and long scepter in his left; to left, ΚΙ; below throne, monogram of ΝΟ. Price 1398. A lovely, beautifully toned example. Extremely fine.
