Description

Constantine X Ducas, 1059-1067. Histamenon (Gold, 26mm, 4.38 g 6), Constantinople. +IhS XIS REX REGNANTIhm Christ, nimbate, seated facing on straight-backed throne, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left. Rev. + K&N BACIΛ O ΔOVKAC Constantine standing facing, wearing crown and loros, holding labarum without pellet on shaft, and globus cruciger. DOC 1a. SB 1847. A superb piece, with a wonderfully sharp portrait of the emperor. Minor flan crack, otherwise, good extremely fine.
