Description

Agrippa, Lieutenant of Augustus, 38 BC-AD 12. As (Copper, 29mm, 11.40 g 6), struck posthumously under Caligula, Rome, 37-41. M AGRIPPA L F COS III Head of Agrippa to left, wearing rostral crown. Rev. S - C Neptune standing left, nude except for a cloak that hangs over his right arm, his shoulders and his left arm, holding a dolphin in his outstretched right hand and a trident with his left. BMC (Tiberius) 161 -168. Cohen 3. BN 77-97. RIC 58. A fine example with a powerful portrait and dark green patina. With some deposits still adhering, as found, otherwise, about extremely fine.
