Description

L. Procilius, 80 BC. Denarius (Silver, 17mm, 4.13 g 2), Rome. S.C Laureate head of Jupiter to right. Rev. L.PROCILI F Juno Sospita walking right, wearing goat skin headdress, cloak and robes, hurling spear with her right hand and holding shield adorned with thunder­bolt in her left; to right, serpent coiled to right. Babelon (Procilia) 1. BMCRR 3147. Crawford 379/1. Sydenham 771. Attractively toned and well-centered. About extremely fine.

From the Stoecklin Collection, bought from Hirsch in Munich in 1966.
