MACEDON, Akanthos. Circa 500-480 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25mm, 16.98 g). Lion to left, attacking bull kneeling to right, head lifted and turned back to left; in exergue, flower Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. Cf. BMFA 516 and SNG ANS 4. Lightly toned and well-struck in high relief. Extremely fine.
From the Stoecklin Collection, bought from Münzen und Medaillen in Basel, and very probably from the Hierissos Hoard of 1934 (IGCH 357).
