Description

BRUTTIUM, Kroton. Circa 530-500 BC. Stater (Silver, 29mm, 8.39 g 12). ϘΡΟ Tripod with legs ending in lion’s feet, and with three handles and snakes rising from the bowl; cable border. Rev. Same type as the obverse, but incuse and with no legend; rayed border. HN III 2075. SNG ANS 230. An attractive toned example, boldly struck. Some minor metal faults and remains of encrustations on the reverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
