Description

LUCANIA, Thourioi. Circa 350-300 BC. Distater (Silver, 23mm, 15.99 g 3). Head of Athena to right, wearing helmet adorned, on the bowl, with Skylla holding a trident. Rev. ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ Bull butting to right on beeded groundline; above, Ξ; in exergue, two fish to right. HN III 1811. Noe H 20. SNG ANS 973. With a noble and powerful head of Athena. Nicely toned. Struck on a narrow flan, otherwise, about extremely fine.
