GAUL, Northeast. The Parisii. Circa 70-60 BC. Stater (Gold, 24mm, 6.99 g 2), Class V. Celticized head of Apollo to right, with wavy hair; to right, floral ornament. Rev. Stylized horse prancing to left, with a fan-like checker-board design above and behind (a devolved chariot and driver); below, ornament of five pellets. DLT 7777. D&T 83. Sills 473. Very rare. An attractive piece on a broad flan. Struck from slightly worn and rusty dies, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
