Diva Julia Maesa, Died in 223 or 224/5, grandmother of Elagabalus and Severus Alexander. Denarius (Silver, 20mm, 3.06 g 6), struck under her grandson, Severus Alexander, Rome , 225. DIVA MAESA AVG Draped bust of Julia Maesa to right, her hair bound in a bun at the back. Rev. CONSECRATIIO The deified Maesa riding peacock up to the heavens to right. BMC 217. Cohen 3. RIC 378. Very scarce. Lightly toned and with a noble, elderly portrait. Extremely fine.
