Description

Nero Claudius Drusus, died 9 BC. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 35mm, 29.70 g 6), struck under Claudius, Rome, 42-43. NERO CLAVDIVS DRVSVS GERMANICVS IMP Bare head of Nero Claudius Drusus to left. Rev. TI CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG P M TR P IMP P P / S C Claudius, bare-headed and togate, seated left on curule chair, holding branch in his right hand and resting his left on his lap; around the chair, spears, shields, cuirass, and a helmet. BMC 208-211a (Claudius). BN 198-203 (Claudius). Cohen 8. RIC 109 (Claudius). Cf. von Kaenel 1515. Attractive dark, red-brown-gold patina. Good very fine.
