Description

Mark Antony and Octavia, 39 BC. Cistophorus (Silver, 28mm, 11.70 g 12), Ephesus. M·ANTONIVS·IMP ·COS· DESIG·ITER ET·TERT Conjoined heads right of Mark Antony, wreathed, and Octavia, to right. Rev. III·VIR – R·P·C· Dionysus, holding cantharus and thyrsus, standing left on cista mystica; to left and right, two interlaced serpents with erect heads. RPC 2202. Sydenham 1198. Very nicely toned. Bang on the obverse and traces of corrosion, otherwise, good very fine.
