Description

C. Vibius Varus, 42 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19mm, 4.12 g 8), Rome. Laureate head of bearded Hercules to right. Rev. C VIBIVS - VA Minerva standing right, holding Victory in her right hand and resting her left on her spear; to right, at her feet, shield. Babelon (Vibia) 23. Crawford 494/37. CRI 193. Sydenham 1139. An attractively toned and sharp example. The left sides of the obverse and reverse struck flat, and with a tiny banker’s mark on the obverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
