Description

Julius Caesar, first half of March, 44 BC. Denarius (Silver, 17mm, 4.28 g 5), with P. Sepullius Macer, Rome. CAESAR - DICT PERPETVO Head of Caesar wearing wreath to right. Rev. P.SEPVLLIVS - MACER Venus standing left, holding Victory in her outstretched right hand and long sceptre resting on a star. Alföldi VI, 71 (this coin). Babelon (Julia) 49, (Sepullia) 4. Crawford 480/11. CRI 107b. Sydenham 1072. Toned and attractive. Two small bankers’ marks on the obverse and some minor die rust, otherwise, about extremely fine.
