C. Coelius Caldus, 53 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18mm, 3.99 g 12), Rome. C.COEL.CALDVS / COS Bare head of Coelius Caldus to right; behind, standard inscribed HIS; before, standard topped by a boar. Rev. Veiled figure seated left atop a lectisternium inscribed L.CALDVS / VII [VIR].EP; to left, trophy with Gallic arms and I/M/P/./A/./X/.; to right, trophy with Macedonian arms and C/./C/A/L/D/V/S. Babelon (Coelia) 7. Crawford 437/2b. Haeberlin 2427 (this coin?). Sydenham 894. Attractively toned and well struck. About extremely fine.
