Description

The Social War: coinage of the Marsic Confederation, 90-88 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19mm, 3.95 g 7), Corfinium, c. 90. ITALIA Laureate head of Italia to left, wearing pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. At the center, youth kneeling by a standard, holding pig, at which two groups of four soldiers point their swords; in exergue, Q . Haeberlin 1469 (this coin). HN III 408. Sydenham 621. Very attractively toned. Minor metal fault, otherwise, about extremely fine.
