Description

CRETE, Phaistos. Circa 330-320 BC. Stater (Silver, 24mm, 11.69 g 2). Herakles standing facing, resting his right hand on his club and with his lionskin over his left arm; to left, coiled serpent; to right, tree bearing the apples of the Hesperides. Rev. Bull walking to left; all within a laurel wreath. Le Rider Pl. IV, 5 (same dies). Svoronos 13. Toned and well-centered. Areas of striking flatness, otherwise, very fine.
