Description

SICILY, Syracuse. Agathokles, 317-289 BC. Dekadrachm (Gold, 15mm, 4.31 g 10), c. 317-310. Laureate head of Apollo to right; behind, ear of barley. Rev. ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΩΝ Charioteer, holding reins in his left hand and goad in his right, driving biga galloping to right; below, triskeles running to right. Dewing 935. Same reverse die as Nomos 2, 29. A rare variant with the triskeles to right. Toned. Very minor edge knock, otherwise, about extremely fine.
