Description

SICILY, Syracuse. 485-466 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 19mm, 8.30 g 4). Nude and bearded horseman riding to right, leading a spare horse to his left. Rev. ϞΥ-ΡΑϘ-ΟϞΙ-ΟΝ Head of Arethusa to right, wearing necklace and pearl diadem, her hair falling down behind; around, four dolphins swimming clockwise. Boehringer 51. SNG ANS 11. An attractive, clear and toned example. Good very fine.
