Description

LUCANIA, Velia. Circa 440/35-400 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17mm, 4.01 g 10). Head of a nymph to right, with curly hair confined by a band. Rev. ΥΕΛ[Η] Owl standing right on olive twig. HN III 1272. SNG ANS 1266. Williams 183. Attractively toned. Slightly rough surfaces and with an ancient test cut at 2’, otherwise, extremely fine.
