Peloponnese-Aeolis (Gold and Silver). Part V. Lesbos-Cyrenaica: Addenda (Gold and Silver). London; Published for the British Academy, 1938–1949. Complete in five volumes. Folio. 64 fine plates illustrating 3,542 coins, accompanying pages of descriptive text. All five parts bound into a single volume of quarter red morocco and marbled boards, raised bands, gilt, the original printed wrappers preserved. Marbled endpapers. A little scuffed and rubbed at extremities, the upper spinecap chipped. Internally clean and bright. An almost fine set of the original editions of this major reference. Essential and rarely offered complete. (5)
Lockett’s coins were later dispersed through a number of Glendinings sales in the 1950’s and early 1960’s. (See lot 1773). Clain-Stefanelli 1913*. Daehn 1971. Kroh p. 13 (four stars).
