All in folio, consisting of 477 plates in total, each with page of descriptive text, the first volume including an essay describing the origins and formation of the collection. The first 30 parts attractively bound into thirteen volumes in red quarter morocco with the original printed covers preserved. Raised bands, gilt, with marbled boards and endpapers. Volumes 31-39 in the original printed card covers. A little rubbed and scuffed at extremities, internally clean and bright. A most attractive set of this monumental reference, lacking only the later volumes for Egypt and North Africa. Still the most important and comprehensive of all the Sylloge volumes, much used and highly sought after. (21)

The coverage is extensive and both the quality of material as well as the research is very good. An astonishing 583 [sic] plates illustrate most of the 22,012 coins. Original full sets are very rare…”.
