Gallienus joint reign with Valerian I, 253 – 260 and sole reign, 260 – 268. Aureus 253-268, AV 3.37 g. GALLIENVS AVG Laureate head r. Rev. MARTI PRO[PVG]NA[T]ORI Mars running r., holding spear in r. hand and shield in l. C –. RIC –, cf. 58 (head wearing crown of reeds). Göbl –, cf. 1439h, i and ff (radiate bust l.) and 1439h and 1440h (head l., wearing crown of reeds). Calicó –, cf. 3553 (head wearing crown of reeds).
Apparently unique and unrecorded. A magnificent and finely
detailed portrait struck on a narrow flan. A perfect Fdc
