Attica, Athens
Tetradrachm circa 459-449, AR 17.19 g. Head of Athena r., wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with spiral palmette and three olive leaves. Rev. ΑΘΕ Owl standing r., with closed wings, head facing; behind, olive sprig with one berry and crescent. All within incuse square. Seltman 441 and pl., XX. Svoronos pl. 9, 10. SNG Berry 644. Starr group IV.
An absolutely spectacular specimen of excellent style. Perfectly struck on a broad
flan and with a delicate iridescent tone. Virtually as struck and almost Fdc
