Syracuse
Tetradrachm circa 400, AV 1.16 g. ΣVPA Head of Heracles l., wearing lion’s skin. Rev. Small female head l. in centre of incuse square. Rizzo pl. XLVIII, 8. Gillet 705 (this coin). SNG Lloyd 1416 (these dies). SNG ANS 350 var. (ΣVPA on reverse).
Rare and undoubtedly among the finest specimens known. Struck on a very broad
flan and with a lovely reddish tone, good extremely fine
