Description

Locris, Locris Opunti. Tetrobol circa 300-275, AR 2.78 g. Head of Athena r., wearing Corinthian helmet. Rev. ΛOKPΩN Naked warrior, without helmet, advancing r., holding sword and shield decorated with a hippocamp. In r. field, trident upwards. Corpus group I, 20d. SNG Copenhagen 62. BCD Lokris-Phokis 104 (these dies).
In exceptional condition for the issue, possibly the finest specimen in private hands.
Struck on a very broad flan and with a lovely old cabinet tone. Extremely fine
