GREEK COINAGE
Syracuse
Tetradrachm, unsigned dies in the style of Eukleidas circa 405-400 BC, AR 17.20 g. Charioteer driving fast quadriga l.; above flying Nike r., holding wreath, and in exergue, dolphin l. Rev. Head of Arethusa l., hair bound with sphendone over which several tresses fly back. Around, four dolphins. Tudeer 98. SNG Copenhagen 682. SNG ANS 299 (these dies).
Rare. Iridescent tone and good very fine
From the collection of a Swiss lawyer purchased in the 80’s and in the early 90’s.
