Syracuse. 100 litrae circa 317-310, EL 6.69 g. ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΩΝ Laureate head of Apollo l.; behind, bow. Rev. ΣΩΤΕΙΡΑ Head of Artemis r., hair bound with broad taenia, wearing triple-pendant earring and dotted necklace; behind, bow and quiver. BMC 252. Jameson 844 (these dies). Jenkins, Essays Robinson, pl. 15, 6 (these dies). Very rare. Two portraits of lovely style perfectly centred on a full flan. Minor flan-crack at twelve o’clock on obverse, otherwise extremely fine Ex Hee-Leu 36, 1968, 102; NAC 9, 1996, 237 and Gorny & Mosch 195, 2011, 74 sales.
