Syracuse. Tetradrachm circa 460-440, AR 17.44 g. Slow quadriga driven r. by charioteer, holding reins and kentron; above, Nike flying r. to crown the horses; in exergue, sea-monster r. Rev. ΣVPAKΟΣ – ΙΟ – Ν Head of Arethusa r., hair bound with fillet, wearing earring and necklace with pendant; around, four dolphins swimming clockwise. McClean 2663 and pl. 92, 8 (these dies). Light tone and extremely fine
