Sicily, Syracuse, decadrachm, c. 400 BC, signed by Euainetos, quadriga driven left by charioteer who is crowned by Nike flying above; in ex., on steps, a shield, cuirass between greaves and helmet, rev., [ΣΥPΑΚΟΣΙ]ΩΝ, wreathed head of Arethusa left wearing earing and pearl necklace and surrounded by four dolphins; signature below off flan, 42.64g, die axis 6.00 (Gallatin R.VII/C.XIV; Dewing 896, same dies), toned and good very fine. Provenance: Gemini II, 11 January 2006, lot 38.
