Attica, Athens, tetradrachm, c. 450-440 BC, helmeted head of Athena right, rev., ΑΘΕ, owl standing right with head facing; to left, olive spray and crescent, 17.20g, die axis 11.00 (cf. Starr pl. 21; Svoronos pl. 12; Flament pl. 1), toned, high relief, about extremely fine. Provenance: The Numismatic Auction Ltd (Tradart) 2, 12 December 1983, lot 108; Numismatic Fine Arts 14, 29 November 1984, lot 119; Münzen und Medaillen, List 475, 1 March 1985, no. 8 (as Starr 199).
