Kings of Macedon, Philip II (359-336 BC), gold stater, Amphipolis, c. 340-328 BC, laureate head of Apollo right, rev., ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ, biga driven right; caduceus below horses, 8.58g, die axis 2.30 (Le Rider p. 207, 56, same dies), one edge knock, reverse slightly burnished, good very fine. Provenance: Peus 297, 3 April 1979, lot 53 and Peus 301, 25 May 1981, lot 220.
