Description

Zeugitana, Carthage, gold stater, c. 350-320 BC, wreathed head of Tanit left wearing triple-drop earring and necklace, rev., horse standing right; three pellets on ground line, 8.85g, die axis 5.00 (Jenkins & Lewis 99, this coin), extremely fine. Provenance: Orestano hoard, 1925 (IGCH 774) and Ars Classica XVII, 3 October 1934, lot 308, “pièce d’un style pur grec ravissant”.
