Gupta Dynasty, Samudragupta (335-370 AD), Gold Dinar, "Scepter/Standard" type, Large flan, Obv: king, nimbate, standing facing left, holding royal scepter (Rajadhanda) adorned with ribbon in left hand and sacrificing over altar, Garuda standard at left, Brahmi legend "Samudra" below king's arm, circular Brahmi legend around "Samarasativita(tavijayo) jitari........", Rev: goddess Lakshmi, nimbate, seated on high backed throne, holding diadem and cornucopia, tamgha to upper left, both feet are resting on a circular mat, three legs of the throne clearly visible and a small symbol at the top right, Brahmi legend "Parakramah" in the right field, 7.8g, 20.08mm, (variant of Altekar, Bayana Hoard # Pl. II-1/TOTGE, S. Kumar # Class II -Var. C.5.1), about very fine, Very Rare.
