Gupta Dynasty, Samudragupta (335-370 AD), Gold Dinar, “Sceptre/Standard” type, Large flan, Obv: king, nimbate, standing facing left, holding royal sceptre (Rajadhanda) adorned with ribbon in left hand and sacrificing over altar, Garuda standard at left, Brahmi legend “Samudra” below king's arm, circular Brahmi legend around “(Samarasasata) vitatavijayo ji……”, Rev: goddess Lakshmi, nimbate, seated on high backed throne, holding diadem and cornucopia, tamgha to upper left, both feet are resting on a circular mat, two legs of the throne clearly visible and Brahmi legend “Parakramah” in the right field, 7.45g, 20.96mm, (variant of Altekar, Bayana Hoard # Pl. II-10 & 11/TOTGE, S. Kumar # Class II -Var. A.4), about very fine, obverse is partially double struck, Rare.
