Potin Coin of Pallavas of Kanchi.
Pallavas of Kanchi (4th Century AD), Potin Unit, Obv: an Elephant standing, facing right, uncertain Pallava-Grantha legend above, all within circular border, Rev: a Peacock standing facing in the center, encircled by a circular border with attached semi-circular arches , 2.3g, 16.82mm, (Unlisted & unreported), overstruck border on the obverse, choice extremely fine, Exceptionally Rare. It is the first known specimen in Pallavas coinage to show an Elephant instead of the usual Bull. An important rarity!
