★ A nicely toned and rare tetradrachm from Miletos ★
KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 33 mm, 16.59 g, 12 h), Miletos, circa 190-165. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, lion walking left, head to right and star above; below lion, monogram of MI; to right, monogram of ΠΑΡ above monogram of ME. Price 2213. Rare and nicely toned. Test cut on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
