Description

CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 365-355 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 24 mm, 7.86 g, 5 h). Nude youth on horse prancing right, holding bridles in his left hand; below horse, Θ. Rev. ΤΑΡΑΣ Youthful oikist, nude, riding dolphin to left, his right arm outstretched. Fischer-Bossert 589 (V236/R450). Vlasto 451. Struck from somewhat worn dies and with a graffito of Λ on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.

From an old Swiss collection, formed in the 1970s.
