Description

CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 405-400 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 21 mm, 7.62 g, 4 h). Nude youth on horse galloping to left, holding bridles with both hands; below horse, Λ. Rev. [Τ]ΑΡΑΣ Youthful oikist, nude, riding dolphin to left, holding aphlaston in his right hand; below, Λ. Fischer-Bossert 311 (V142/R240). Vlasto 346. Nicely toned. Struck from somewhat worn dies, otherwise, very fine.

From an old Swiss collection, formed in the 1970s.
