Description

Commemorative Series, 330-354. Follis (Bronze, 17 mm, 2.33 g, 6 h), Treveri, 333-334. CONSTAN-[TINOPOLIS] Helmeted, laureate and mantled bust of Constantinopolis to left, holding scepter over her left shoulder. Rev. (palm frond)TRP Victory standing front, head to left, placing her right foot on prow, holding scepter in her right hand and resting her left on shield. RIC 563. Traces of overstriking, otherwise, extremely fine.

From the Tetrarchy Collection, formed over the past twenty-five years.

This coin is a so-called flip-over double strike, meaning that the flan was not removed between two strikes but flipped over, which resulted in the upper part of Victory being visible on Constantinopolis' chest.
