★ Virtually as struck ★

CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 240-228 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 20 mm, 6.51 g, 8 h), Xenokrates, magistrate. Dioskouros, raising his right hand and holding rein in his left, on horseback to left; above to right, monogram and pileos; below, ΞE-NOKPA/T-HΣ. Rev. TAPAΣ Youthful oikist, nude but for chlamys, riding dolphin to left, holding trident over his right shoulder and lifting drapery with his left; to right, monogram; below, waves and cuttlefish. HN Italy 1058. Vlasto 955-957. Fresh, lustrous and clear. Struck from a worn obverse die with some breaks, otherwise, virtually as struck.
