Description

Hadrian, 117-138. Dupondius or As (Orichalcum, 26 mm, 11.94 g, 7 h), Rome, 134-138. HADRIANVS AVG COS IIII P P Laureate and draped bust of Hadrian to right, seen from behind. Rev. S - C / DACIA Dacia, wearing tunic and cloak, seated left on rock, legs crossed and placing her right foot on globe, holding aquila in her right hand and curved sword in her left. BMC 1745. Cohen 529. RIC 850f. A lovely coin with a fine green patina. About extremely fine.

From the collections of Richard Wiegand and R. O. Ebert, Stack's Bowers & Ponterio 174, 8 January 2013, 5256, privately purchased from Rare Coins & Classical Arts in 1992.
