KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.28 g, 11 h), Damaskos, struck under Menon or Menes, circa 330-323. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; in field to left, forepart of a ram to right; below throne, • and ΔA. Price 3208. A lovely and very attractively toned example. The reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, extremely fine.
