Description

MACEDON. Akanthos. Circa 480-470 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.48 g). Lion right, attacking a bull collapsing to left with head raised; above, Θ; in exergue, stylized akanthos flower. Rev. Raised quadripartite square. Desneux 53 (D51/R47). A lovely example of beautiful late archaic style. Some die rust on the obverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
