Melias, ostiarios, 12th century. Seal (Lead, 29 mm, 12.37 g, 1 h). KЄ ROHΘ T C ΔΛ ('Lord, help your servant); to left, O / AΓI/O/C; to right, [ΓЄω]/PΓI/OC Nimbate facing bust of Saint George, holding a spear over his right shoulder and resting a shield on his left arm. Rev. MЄΛIH O CT IAPI ('Melias, ostiarios'); to left, O / A/[Γ]I/O/C; to right, Θ/Є/OΔO/P, Nimbate facing bust of Saint Theodore, holding a spear over his right shoulder and resting a shield on his left arm. Unpublished in the standard references. A large and attractive iconographical seal. Minor cracks along the channel, otherwise, good very fine.
