★ The earliest seal type of Maurice Tiberius ★

Maurice Tiberius, 582-602. Seal (Lead, 20 mm, 6.53 g, 12 h). The Virgin standing facing, holding Christ before her; to left and right, small, thick cross with an elongated vertical shaft at shoulder level. Rev. [D]n TibЄR m-AURIC PP [AVI] Draped facing bust of Maurice Tiberius, wearing crown with cross on top and pendilia. DO VI 9.1. Seibt, BBÖ I, 9a. Zacos/Veglery 7a. Channel partially broken out, otherwise, very fine.

This is the earliest seal type of Maurice Tiberius, where the name Tiberius precedes Maurice, a phenomenon that also occurs on the emperor's coinage.
