★ An interesting denarius from the Eravisci ★
CELTIC, Middle Danube. Eravisci. Mid to late 1st century BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.90 g, 2 h), imitating a denarius of C. Piso L.f. Frugi of 61 . Head of Apollo to right, his hair bound with fillet; behind, wreath (?). Rev. CIRΘLFFN (sic!) Horseman galloping right and holding palm in his right hand; above, trident. Cf. Crawford 340/1 (for prototype). An interesting coin of lovely celticized style. Scrape on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
