KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.12 g, 2 h), Babylon I, struck under Seleukos I, circa 311-300 BC. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΒAΣIΛEΩΣ - AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, monogram within wreath; below throne, MI. Price 3747. SC 82.5b. Boldly struck in high relief. Minor marks, otherwise, extremely fine.
