Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 16.72 g, 12 h), Arados, struck under Menes or Laomedon, 324/3-320. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ - AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, kerykeion; below throne, monogram of AP. Price 3332. Somewhat porous, otherwise, about very fine.
